A painfully slow worker at the beginning of a career in illustration buried among stacks and stacks of books, hundreds of sheets of paper, model horses and general clutter, for whom the world might have been just a little more beautiful yet, had my birth not been quite so ghastly a mistake. That being the case, I’m afraid I’m not a happy child – but I do try. My sensitivity apparently exasperates my sister. My social ineptitude is woeful. I rarely grumble, but sigh a great deal, hiding - from the world at least - how deeply and keenly I feel. I wish it were possible to climb trees at my age without people regarding me with suspicion or contempt or worse. I sometimes suffer fools very badly – though I can seldom do anything about it. I don’t know what I would do without art, books or music. My work combines two of those passions and I’m so grateful for it in so many ways.
